WINDOWS 95 Take Five Hardisk Recording Installation
---------------------------------------------------

1.0 General Notes

   If you wish only to install the driver you can use the AUDIO16.INF file located on
   the WIN95 installation directory.

   This should be installed from the "Add new Hardware" section of the Windows 95
   control panel. Do not have Windows 95 search for the new hardware, it will not find it.
   On the screen labeled "Hardware Types" select "Sound, Video, and Game Controllers"
   from the bottom of the list. Where appropriate, click on the "Have-Disk" icon to install
   the file.

   The Take five Harddisk Recording manufactor name will be registered as "Elrad Projects"
   in the Plug and Play database.

   If you have allready a sound device installed like :

   [drivers]
   Wave=speaker.drv

   then rename as :

   [drivers]
   Wave0=speaker.drv

   and after you installed the audio16 driver you will get :

   [drivers]
   Wave=audio16.drv
   Wave0=speaker.drv

   now you can now define the order of the sound devices like :

   [drivers]
   Wave=speaker.drv        <<< as first
   Wave1=audio16.drv       <<< as following

1.1 Installation of the "Take five Harddisk Recording" in WINDOWS 95

   There are two possible scenarios (A & B) for installing the Hardisk Recording Board in
   Windows 95.

A) The Take five Harddisk Recording board was already installed, and you installed Win95
   over (into the same directory) an existing Windows installation.

   Generally, if you install Win95 over your existing Windows installation, the Take five
   Harddisk Recording will work as they did before. This is not always the case, however,
   and you may need to make adjustments to your current setup.

   This file contains an AUDIO16.INF file which can be added to your system using the
   "Add New Hardware" icon in the Windows 95 Control Panel. Do not have Windows 95 search
   for the new hardware, it will not find it. On the screen labeled "Hardware Types"
   select "Sound, Video, and Game Controllers" from the bottom of the list.
   Where appropriate, click on the "Have-Disk" icon to install the file. Then use
   the browse to locate the AUDIO16.INF.

   After Windows 95 installation, goto section 1.2 of this document to register the board
   in the Windows 95 Device Manager.

B) You installed Win95 into a different directory than an existing Windows installation,
   or have not yet installed the Take five Harddisk Recording.

   In either of these cases, a new install of the Hardisk Recording 'Take Five' will be
   necessary.
Where appropriate, click on the "Have-Disk" icon to install
   the file. Then use the browse to locate the AUDIO16.INF.

   Restart Windows 95 and watch for any error messages. If you do not get any, test
   the Take five Harddisk Recording by trying to play a .wav through the Win95 Media
   Player. If the card works, continue to the next paragraph. If, on the other hand,
   you do receive any error messages, you can reconfigure the card's settings using
   the Take five Harddisk Recording installation disk. Repeat this procedure until
   you have settings that work

   Note: when changing the Port Address settings you must also change the jumpers
         on the card. See the ELRAD for hardware details.

   Once you have found acceptable settings, write them down:

   IRQ/Interrupt, Port Address, and Input.

   Follow the directions in section "A" for the installation of the AUDIO16.INF file.
   It is important to note that the AUDIO16.INF install will setup the Hardisk Recording
   'Take Five' at the default settings of :

      - IRQ/Interrupt = 10
      - Port Address  = 210
      - Input         = 0 (Real Input 1)

   Once the AUDIO16.INF install is complete you will be prompted to restart your computer.
   If your card's settings were originally anything other than the defaults,
   you will receive error messages again upon entering Windows.
   Use the Take Five Hardisk Recording installation disk to change the settings
   back to what you wrote down earlier (Don't do a full install! Just reconfigure!).
   Restart the system again and the Hardisk Recording 'Take Five' should function
   as it did before the AUDIO16.INF install.

   Short Overview of the above steps:

	1. Run the standard install for the Take Five Hardisk Recording.
	2. If necessary, use the setup program to reconfigure the card.
            Remember to note the settings.
	3. Run the AUDIO16.INF install for the Take Five Hardisk Recording
	4. If necessary, use the setup to modify card to working
            settings. (From above)

1.2 Registering the Take Five Hardisk Recording with the Windows 95 registery

   For this next step, you will need to know the current settings of the Take Five
   Hardisk Recording card.

   If you don't remember, steps 1-10 will show you how to find that information

   1) Click on the "Start" button on the Taskbar.
   2) Click on "Settings."
   3) Click on "Control Panel."
   4) Double click on the "Multimedia" icon.
   5) Select the tab key marked "Advanced."
   6) Double-click on the item marked "Audio Devices."
   7) Select the item "Digital Audio Interface"
   8) Click on "Properties."
   9) Click on "Settings."
  10) Note the I/O, Input and IRQ settings.
  11) Now go back to the "Control Panel" (still active).
  12) Double click on the "System" icon.
  13) Select the "Device Manager" tab.
  14) Double-click on "Computer."
  15) For each of the radio buttons, (IRQ and I/O), the Take Five Hardisk Recording
      settings should say "In use by an unknown device."
      If this is not the case, you will need to reserve the settings that the
      Hardisk Recording 'Take Five' is on by using the "Reserve Resources" tab dialog.
      The only setting you should have to reserve for the Take Five Hardisk Recording
      is the IRQ. If you are using the default settings, add '10' to the list of
      reserved IRQ's.
  16) Click on OK and a dialog box will appear asking if you wish to
      restart your computer.  Check yes.
  17) Go back into the device manager, and verify that the settings have
      been excluded.
